Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge- Pale Pink

Sometimes it seems that my make up bag is full of Bobbi Brown products, I just find they have such great products for long lasting basics for the day!

I got this Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks to keep my pout pink on the go. It has a slightly a cream texture, lighter than a lip balm but with much more colour. It gives lips a lighter and more natural colour than a lipstick. On the cheeks it blends in really smoothly, not at all greasy and can be built up giving a really pretty pink glow.

There are five shades, all fairly neutral and wearable. I love a bright pink because it looks fresh against my paler complexion. The Pot Rouge is a really nice product, not super long wearing on the lips, but gives a nice strong colour and a great alternative to lip balm for the day time. Also looks good under gloss. For the cheeks, the colour is pretty much the same as the Pale Pink cheek powder blush (reviewed here), but this gives a much more dewy look.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow

Finally got a chance to blog again! Thought I do a quick post of yet another Bobbi Brown product. I love the long wear range, mostly because it really is long wearing. I hate nothing more than smudged make up at the end of a long working day.

This shade of Long Wear Cream Shadow, Bone (1), is one of the lighter shades, a really pale vanilla beige. I use it all over the eye up to the brow and also blend under the eye along the lashline. During the week it is the only shadow I wear, but it also really good as a primer to make powder shadow last a little longer.
There is a range of 15 colours in the cream shadow, mostly matte or shimmer, although Bobbi Brown also does a metallic range- another blog post coming soon!

I would really recommend this shadow, it looks perfect at the end of the day- no creasing, greasing or slipping off. It is light and comfortable to wear. The colour can be applied with a brush or fingers and can be built up.

Shown here all over the lid, blended along the lower lashline, with bobbi Brown long wear gel liner and Chanel Inimitable mascara

Lovely bright orange polish, shame we are going into winter as it will look great on toes!

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Mask
One of my favourite masks, I have previously reviewed here.

Dermalogica Multivitamin Thermafoliant

Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint

Liz Earle has some fabulous (and natural) skincare products and they have recently bought out this tinted moisturiser, it is water based although not oil free and has SPF 15, which comes from the natural zinc oxide. It retails at £21 for 40ml and is available in three colours; Bare (fair), Beige (medium), Beach (medium-dark).

I had a sample of each of the colours, although bare was a best match for my skin tone I mixed it in with the beige to add a little extra colour.

The formula was really light and creamy, it went on smoothly and the colour blended in to the skin to give a natural dewy finish. The coverage was minimal as you would expect from a tinted moisturiser, similar to a light foundation, but gave a nice even tone to the skin. It wasn't enough coverage for me, not without additional concealer but I would really recommend if you wanted a nice finish without wearing make up.

Sleek Bad Girl palette

I thought I would give Sleek make up a try after reading so many positive things about the products online.

I picked up this Bad Girl i-Divine Palette for a bargainous £6.49! I have to be honest, I can't remember the last time I bought a single eyeshadow for £6 let alone a palette of 12 colours!
I chose the Bad Girl as I think the best thing about a palette is you can have a play around for a evening out and I really liked the mix of heavy colours, metallics and shimmer shades- great for a having an experiment for a night out.

The colours are mineral based powder, with really heavy pigmentation- hardly any needed to get a good cover of colour. The blend really well and can be built up. It also worked really well wet as a liner. The selection of colours is great, I particularly liked the green shades (Intoxicated and Envy). I was really impressed with the palette and will be taking a look at some more Sleek products.

I have a couple of photos of my playing around with it. I am certainly not a make up artist or talented with a camera so they are not great examples...

BLUE BASED

A base of Gullible, Innocence as a highlighter on the brow and Abyss used wet as a liner.

The above colours, built up with Obnoxious and Abyss blended into the lash line and along the bottom lash line.

GREEN BASED

Gullible taken over the whole eye, Innocence on the brow bone. Intoxicated in the outer corner, Envy along the lash line and blended with blade across the lower lash line and to the inner of the lid.

Bobbi Brown Lip Colour- Pale Mauve

The second of my lipstick posts today, a moisturising lipstick from Bobbi Brown. I picked this up for daytime as I have have been liking lilac lips courtesy of my Nars Velvet Matte lip pencil and wanted a similar lipstick.

Bobbi Brown lipsticks are great because they have really flattering colours and are really creamy and smooth. This one is a little bit more subtle than the Nars stick but still has a pinky lilac tinge, maybe a little more subtle than I would like but it is long wearing and good for work. The finish is a creamy matte satin. It is not very long lasting but fades evenly and is really comfortable to wear for the day.

Will be trying some more lilac shades soon...

Nude lips- Myth by MAC

I have seen nude lips about recently and thought I would give the look ago. I usually choose bright lips so this is a bit of change for me, but I added some extra eyeliner to balance it out.

I picked up Myth satin lipstick (£12.50) from the MAC counter, it is a tanned nude, slightly chalky and has an orange/red undertone I would say.

I really like the nude look, but I am not sure this is the right lipstick for me, I think with my pale skin and hair it washes me a out quite a lot- even with some extra bronzer and eyeliner to balance it out?!
What are your thoughts on nude lips, and any suggestions on a nude lip that might be better suit me are always welcome.

(sorry for the scowl again!)

September Glossy Box Contents

Excited as always to get my Glossy Box today! Have to admit I did check out the spoilers yesterday so it is lucky I got some variations in mine! The theme of this month’s box is Future Classics

Here goes:

HD Brows Eye&Brow Palette
I think everyone got one of these. It’s full size and very usable- nice choice.

I love this stuff as a multi purpose beauty oil. Bottle is a little small but perfect for a weekend away 10ml

I haven’t heard of this brand before but I love a cleansing balm. Is suitable for all skin types and contains moor mud and sweet almond oil. I absolutely can’t wait to try this later!

Not had a sniff yet but always good to have a perfume sample in your bag!

Organic hair care that promises glossing!

I am always pretty pleased with my Glossy Box, you  won’t always love every product but I will definitely be using all these. As always the Glossy Box arrival cheers up my day no end!

Easy catwalk eyeliner from DIor

The Velvet Eyes Backstage Eyeliners...
I have just been reading about these beauties from Dior!
I love over the top eyeliner but am so rubbish at getting them straight and even so will definitely be giving these a go. Currently they are only available at Selfridges and are £47 and stick on like false eyelashes, no word on whether they are reusable but I am guessing with a bit of care you could get a few wears out of them. £47 is pretty steep, but then with these on your peepers you could skimp on the dress as they would steal the show. I am sure it won't be too long before there are some copycats on the high street too!

Anyone tried these? Will you be investing?

Disappointment from Dove

I got this sample tube of Nourishing Oil Care Intensive Conditioner from Dove so thought I'd give it a whirl. As I have heavily coloured hair that is a little too friendly with the straighteners it can be pretty dry so it's nice to get a new hair treat.

The tube states that it is an "express treatment conditioner with weightless nutri-oils" and boasts "3x the nourishing power of conditioner". It has a swirl of gold oil through the conditioner and smells good.
Overall the results were really disappointing, my hair did not feel any healthier or look any glossier than using my usual conditioner and if anything it looked a little dull. It's a real shame as I usually like Dove products but was not overly impressed with this as an intensive treatment. If you are looking for an intensive treatment for your locks my fave for good results is the Nice n Easy ColourSeal conditioner which you can buy for about 99p in Boots!

High Street Argan Oil hair treats

There is a big buzz at the moment around Argan Oil hair treatments. It seemed to start with Moroccan Oil hair treatment which is available in salons and online quite easily and retails at about £30 for 100ml. L'Oreal have also introduced their Mythic Oil, again available in salons and online, which does not contain any Argan oil but does claim the same benefits as Moroccan Oil with healthy hair and faster drying time. As always where the salons head the high street follows. As I have short hair and it gets cut really regularly, I am not particularly keen on spending £30 for a bottle of Moroccan Oil so I picked up three products under £5 which all contain Argan Oil and put them to the test.

VO5 Miracle Concentrate- £4.99 (50ml)

This is a thick oil that comes with a dripper top. You rub into damp freshly washed hair and then carry on as usual. I liked this product, although have found that the dropper gave too much product for my hair and if I used too near the roots it felt a little heavy. I wouldn't use this everyday as it was a little much for my hair, although my hair is really thick, dry and coloured. It has a great scent and definitely left my hair looking smooth and shiny and healthy. I think on long hair it would be a fab treatment, and I would buy again but must remember not to use to much.

TREsemme Serum with Argan Oil- £4.99 (30ml)

This was a lovely light serum containing Argan Oil. When applied to damp hair it gave me a really smooth finish once it had been styled. There was no heaviness and my hair was shiny and with no added weight. I also tried applying it as I normally would serum, after straightening to give it a nice glossy finish, again it gave a nice smooth and shiny look without weighing it down.

I am not really sure the Argan Oil particularly made much difference here and may be a good marketing addition for TREsemme, but I would recommend if you want to add shine but feel that oil will be too heavy for your hair.

Milk_Shake Organic Argan Oil- £4.20 (10ml)

Okay, so this is a bit of a cheat as, although it is under a fiver, the bottle is a teeny tiny 10ml. A 50ml bottle is £17.50 so quite a bit pricey than the VO5!!
However, this little bottle really did a great job. The oil was light, and I only needed the tiniest amount to spread through my hair. Even applied root to tip it was not heavy at all and left my hair feeling great, really healthy, strong and smooth and my hair looked really shiny. It was absolutely my favourite of the three and makes me interested in maybe trying Moroccan Oil as well.

Let me know what Argan Oil products you love.

OPI Charged Up Cherry

Super bright, nearly neon pink from the OPI from the Brights range. I am loving Charged Up Cherry for sure!

Think Pink- My favourite Bobbi Brown blushers!

I absolutely adore Bobbi Brown for make up staples, they have such a wide range of flattering shades and I find their products to have real staying power.

Bobbi Brown has a range of blusher products, including their ever popular shimmer bricks but my favourites are the single colour powder blush and the shimmer blush.

Pink Coral (Shimmer Blush)

This a really warm pink with hint of gold shimmer, great for evening looks and applied with bronzer. My favourite for the summer.

Peony (Blush)

I bought this one for my wedding last year, it gives a really bright but natural pink glow and can be built up. Has a slight blue undertone and looks quite bright in the palette but is really flattering on my paler skin although I have seen it on darker skin and would say it is a really versatile pink.

Pale Pink (Blush)

I love this colour for pale winter skin. It has a much stronger blue undertone than the peony- almost a verging on violet/fuschia colour. It is very bright but looks really natural and fresh on.

As you can see I stick with the pinks, but would love to try the apricot shades too!
